Primitivo Neprica di Tormaresca was born from 100% Primitivo grapes grown near the Adriatic coast on the Maime estate in San Pietro Vernotico. The vinification process took place entirely in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The maceration of the must on the skins, useful for the extraction by the must of aromas and color, took place for 8-10 days at a temperature not exceeding 26 ° C. After the alcoholic fermentation, aimed at transforming sugars into alcohol, and the malolactic fermentation started to "soften" the wine in its body and aromas, Tormaresca's 2017 Neprica was aged for 8 months in steel and for a further 4 months in bottle before being marketed.
PRIMITIVO NEPRICA TORMARESCA: THE TASTING
Primitivo Neprica di Tormaresca shows an intense ruby red color. The nose reveals enveloping aromas of black cherry and red fruits in jam accompanied by docile hints of dark spices. On the palate it is soft and full-bodied, supported by smooth tannins and a good fresh-savory balance. The fruity notes persist in the finish. At the table it goes well with cured meats and aged and blue cheeses as well as with first and second courses based on red meat and game.
